III. RESEARCH CENTRES FOR Ph.D.
1. CHEMISTRY
The Department of Chemistry was recognised as a Research department in 1989 (AC.A II(II) / 505/88 dated KTM 29th Jan. 1988). It is one of the foremost centres of research in Chemistry in affiliated colleges.
2. COMMERCE
The Department of commerce was recognised as a Research Centre by the M.G. University in January 2000 (AC.A VI / 3323 / RC. / 98 dated 18th Nov. 1999). The centre provides computing facilities.
3. MALAYALAM
The Department of Malayalam was recognized as a Research Centre for Ph.D. by Mahatma Gandhi University on 8th February, 2001(AC.A VI/2/3185 - R.C. 2000 dated 8th Feb. 2001).
4. HINDI
The Department of Hindi was recognized as a Research Centre for Ph.D. by Mahatma Gandhi University on 3rd June 2005 (AC. A VI/2/1023/R-C/04 dated 3rd June 2005).
5. STATISTICS
The Department of Statistics was recognized as a Research Centre for Ph.D. by Mahatma Gandhi University on 2nd April 2009 (1565 AC. A VI/1/RC/2009 Acad. dated 2nd April 2009).

Career Oriented (Add-on) Programmes
UGC introduced Career Oriented Programme for vocationalising the undergraduate education. The students, while pursuing their degree programmes, can opt for these courses which will enhance their skills and employment opportunities. At the end of the first year of education, students will be provided with a Certificate, in the second year - a Diploma, and in the third year - an Advanced Diploma along with their conventional degrees. The Certificate/ Diploma/ Advanced Diploma will be awarded by the University.
The courses will have progressive approach and will be on credit system. Students can join for Diploma course only on successful completion of Certificate course and for Advanced Diploma course only on successful completion of Diploma course.

These courses are interdisciplinary in nature and hence students of any degree programme can opt for the courses.

Courses in Computer Applications
Courses such as Diploma in Computer Application (DCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) are offered by the College under the co-ordination of the Department of Computer Science and Commerce.

Computer courses are given to the students during working days and holidays from 9 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 5 pm and also at free hours for the practicals. Thirty students are accommodated at a time for each Course.

Computer Labs
There are four separate Computer Labs for BCom, BCA, MSc Statistics and MCA which mostly concentrate on regular curriculum, research and project work. Short term diploma courses are also conducted.
Language Lab
The language laboratory is of the ‘Listen-Respond-Record-Compare-Monitor-Inter Communicate type, conforming to international specifications of performance and features. Its use of two independent cassette mechanisms makes the system more versatile. The language laboratory system consists of 15 student stations, master console with stereo recording facility, CD player, cassette players, micro phones on gooseneck stand, recording units, headphones and speaker boxes. Audio cassettes and CD ROMs produced by the BBC improve the speech and pronunciation of students. The lab is supervised by the department of English. It provides short term course on Spoken English.
